SaunaDiscovery.com is a hand-curated guide to the world's best saunas. We research and vet every venue, from traditional Finnish saunas in Helsinki to wood-fired barrels on the Edinburgh waterfront, so you can find a great session by city, type, or feature.

We believe the best saunas are worth seeking out. Not every sauna makes the cut. We look for places with genuine character: dedicated sauna experiences run by people who care about the craft, not gym amenities or hotel add-ons.

Every sauna in the directory is vetted against our editorial standards. We weigh the quality of the heat, the setting, community feel, cold-plunge and open-water access, and price. Then we publish the details that actually shape a visit up front: sauna types, cold plunges, prices, and opening hours.

SaunaDiscovery is built by James, who also writes Saunafique: practical guides to the owning side of sauna life: which type fits a home, what they honestly cost to run, and the kit worth buying. Visiting lives here; when a great session turns into “should I get one of these?”, that's the place.

SaunaDiscovery.com is made by James, based in the UK, who has been going to saunas for over ten years. That is long enough to have opinions about löyly, and to know that a great sauna is usually run by someone slightly obsessive.

How the atlas is actually built, plainly: James has been to at least 20 of the venues listed here in person. The rest are researched from the operator's own information, opening hours, pricing, sauna types, and what the local sauna community says about them. They are held to the same standards, but not personally visited.

Nobody has been to all of them, and a directory this size that claims otherwise isn't being straight with you. Where a listing rests on research rather than a visit, that's what it is.
