About

Sál Sauna is a wood-fired barrel sauna on Ord beach, in the south of Skye. Sessions look out to the Cuillins. The cold side of the cycle is Loch Eishort, a sea loch, or a river nearby.

Good to know

  • Wood-fired heat: softer, heavier löyly than electric, and the smell of the stove is part of the room.
  • Cold plunge available on site: use it between rounds for the classic contrast cycle.
  • Set up outdoors: weather is part of the experience, so dress for the walk between cabin and water.
  • Set in nature, away from the city, so bring a car or plan the transfer in advance.
  • Right on the sea: expect saltwater dips between rounds, cold even in summer.
  • On a river: the cold side of the cycle comes from open running water rather than a tub.
