The scene

What to expect from saunas in San Antonio

The San Antonio sauna scene is deliberately narrow. All 3 of the curated venues run infrared-style heat, so the decision is about operator, setting and contrast setup rather than format. That narrowness is part of the appeal: it makes comparison easy and keeps the bar consistent.

1 of the 3 saunas here (33% of the list) runs a cold plunge on site. If the contrast cycle is what you're turning up for, skew your bookings to those venues. The rest are still worth visiting, they just ask you to bring your own cool-down plan.

On price, San Antonio spreads across the range: 2 at mid-range ($$) and 1 at premium ($$$). The centre of gravity is the mid-range ($$) band.

A few places to start: Perspire Sauna Studio — Culebra Commons: Perspire's Culebra Commons studio is on West Loop 1604 North in San Antonio; Sweat Equity Infrared Saunas, an infrared sauna studio on South St; and Perspire Sauna Studio — Huebner Oaks: Perspire's Huebner Oaks studio is on Huebner Road in northwest San Antonio. That’s the on-ramp. The full ranking sits above.
