About

Oskarshamns Roddklubb keeps a wood-fired sauna raft moored in Kättilfjärden, near Gunnarsö on the Baltic shore. The sauna seats six and the glazed lounge takes eight, with sea water about two metres deep alongside. An ice hole is kept open through the winter.

Good to know

  • Wood-fired heat: softer, heavier löyly than electric, and the smell of the stove is part of the room.
  • Cold plunge available on site: use it between rounds for the classic contrast cycle.
  • Right on the sea: expect saltwater dips between rounds, cold even in summer.
  • Set up outdoors: weather is part of the experience, so dress for the walk between cabin and water.
  • Set in nature, away from the city, so bring a car or plan the transfer in advance.
  • Bookable as a private session: rent the room for your group rather than sharing with strangers.
