Saunadorf Unterelchingen
Elchingen, Germany

About
A Russian banja outside Ulm, laid out as two wood-fired huts that a group books to itself. Each holds a steam room, a rest room with a long table, a shower block and a fenced garden with an outdoor shower. Birch and oak veniks are on hand, and a Gaststätte on site serves Russian dishes.
Good to know
- Wood-fired heat: softer, heavier löyly than electric, and the smell of the stove is part of the room.
- Bookable as a private session: rent the room for your group rather than sharing with strangers.
- Set up outdoors: weather is part of the experience, so dress for the walk between cabin and water.
- Restaurant on site, so long sessions are the design. Food is part of the visit rather than a stop on the way home.
