About
The flagship of London's community sauna movement: 7 wood-fired saunas in a converted bathhouse at Hackney Wick. It is non-profit, and the heat is uncompromising. The canalside setting near the Olympic Park adds an industrial atmosphere that suits it.
Good to know
- Cold plunge available on site: use it between rounds for the classic contrast cycle.
- Set up outdoors: weather is part of the experience, so dress for the walk between cabin and water.
- Urban venue: it sits inside the city rather than at a coast or lake. A session fits into a day in town.
- Wood-fired heat: softer, heavier löyly than electric, and the smell of the stove is part of the room.
- Women-only sauna: the venue has a women's side or room, or runs set women-only sessions.
- Mixed sauna: men and women share the room, in every session or on set days.
- Swimwear sauna: some or all sessions are taken in swimwear, so pack it.
- Runs aufguss sessions: a guided löyly ritual where an attendant fans the steam around the room on a schedule.
