ekosauna
Waiheke Island, New Zealand

About
ēkôsauna is a wood-fired mobile sauna that parks at a different Waiheke Island beach each day of the week. The stops run from Onetangi to Enclosure Bay. Community sessions run in small groups with an optional cold immersion between rounds, and the whole sauna can be booked privately or hired for events.
Good to know
- Wood-fired heat: softer, heavier löyly than electric, and the smell of the stove is part of the room.
- Mobile operator: the sauna travels, so the location is part of the booking. Check the current site before you arrive.
- Cold plunge available on site: use it between rounds for the classic contrast cycle.
- Right on the sea: expect saltwater dips between rounds, cold even in summer.
- Set up outdoors: weather is part of the experience, so dress for the walk between cabin and water.
- Set in nature, away from the city, so bring a car or plan the transfer in advance.
