About
Caladh is a mobile wood-fired sauna on the quay at Port Bannatyne, Isle of Bute. Sessions pair sauna heat with a sea swim off the quayside. The Eider Bakery next door handles baked goods and warm drinks afterwards.
Good to know
- Mobile operator: the sauna travels, so the location is part of the booking. Check the current site before you arrive.
- Right on the sea: expect saltwater dips between rounds, cold even in summer.
- Set up outdoors: weather is part of the experience, so dress for the walk between cabin and water.
- Wood-fired heat: softer, heavier löyly than electric, and the smell of the stove is part of the room.
- Cold plunge available on site: use it between rounds for the classic contrast cycle.
- Bar on premises: drinks alongside (or after) the session, and the venue isn't dry like most outdoor sauna setups.
- Swimwear sauna: some or all sessions are taken in swimwear, so pack it.
