About
Saunaday is a communal bathhouse in downtown Madison, a block from Lake Monona. A two-hour ritual moves through cedar salt-scrub showers, a steam room, two Finnish saunas and a cold plunge pool. Private suites, hinoki soaking tubs and an infrared cabin are booked separately, and a sauna master leads aufguss sessions.
Good to know
- Runs aufguss sessions: a guided löyly ritual where an attendant fans the steam around the room on a schedule.
- Cold plunge available on site: use it between rounds for the classic contrast cycle.
- Hot tub on site: adds a warm-water option between the sauna and the cold plunge for a longer cycle.
- Mixed sauna: men and women share the room, in every session or on set days.
- Bookable as a private session: rent the room for your group rather than sharing with strangers.
- Swimwear sauna: some or all sessions are taken in swimwear, so pack it.
- Urban venue: it sits inside the city rather than at a coast or lake. A session fits into a day in town.
