KOK Oslo

Wood-fired floating saunas moored on the Oslofjord, one at Langkaia beneath the Opera House, another at Aker Brygge facing Akershus Fortress. The cold plunge is simply the fjord off the back step. Sessions run shared or private, and the KOKcruise variant casts off entirely, gliding through the inner harbour between rounds.

A communal sauna in the heart of Bodø harbour, seating fourteen, with the cold, clear sea a step away for the plunge. Open early till late, it is the heat-and-cold ritual set against the working waterfront of Norway's northern gateway. A good first or last stop on the way to the Lofoten ferries.

A seaside community sauna at the end of the guest pier on Kadettangen, ten minutes from central Oslo. A three-level room climbs to 100°C, and the cooldown is a dip straight into the fjord. It holds up to twenty, electrically heated and run year-round, and is the quieter suburban alternative to Oslo's busy harbour saunas.

A sauna by the sea in the centre of Sortland, among the old trading piers between Kvitbryggen and Skibsgaarden. It looks out over the Sortlandssundet toward the Møysalen peak, and pairs the heat with a plunge into clear Vesterålen water. A warm room with a dramatic backdrop, and a rare dedicated sauna this far up the coast.

A floating sauna in Tromsø's historic harbour, well above the Arctic Circle, pairing a warm room of harbour-facing glass with a plunge into the cold sea. Three saunas, including a quiet room and a lavvo-style sauna, look out at Tromsdalstinden and the Arctic Cathedral. In winter it is the dark-and-aurora version of the ritual.
SALT Oslo
