Britain has built one of the best sauna scenes in Europe, and nearly all of it is recent. It is also overwhelmingly outdoors.
The map runs from Scotland's coast and lochs to England's community bathhouses and Cornish beaches, with cold North Sea water on three sides. The through-line is serious heat a few steps from serious cold. It is run by small operators who treat the plunge as the point.
